Cast-In-Place Liner
Cast-in-place is the relining method for a chimney whose flue is not merely unlined but deteriorating — spalled tile, open joints, missing mortar between the wythes. A former is centered in the flue and a lightweight refractory mixture is pumped in around it from the bottom up. When it cures and the former is withdrawn, the chimney has a seamless, insulated masonry liner bonded to the existing structure. It reinforces the stack rather than just passing through it, and it takes odd flue shapes no manufactured liner will fit. We perform this ourselves with our own equipment. Chimney height, flue cross-section, the number of offsets, and how much prep the old flue needs are what move the price.
