Rigid Stainless Liner
Where a flue runs straight from the appliance to the top, rigid stainless is the better liner. It is formed from heavier-gauge material than flexible liner and presents a smooth interior wall, so it resists creosote buildup, sweeps more easily, and holds up longer through repeated heating cycles. We size it to the appliance rather than to the old flue, insulate the annulus where the code and the appliance listing call for it, and finish at the crown with a top plate, storm collar, and cap. Chimney height, flue size, whether the old clay tile has to be broken out to make room, and insulation are what set the price. If the chimney has offsets, flexible liner is the honest answer and we will say so.
